Tips for your trip to Hakone

[1] For those arriving on Dec. 1st Sunday at Haneda Airport International Terminal

Take Keikyu Line, 20 min. to Shinagawa Station, and follow the instructions (2.*) from Shinagawa. You need to buy a JR ticket with Shinkansen fare to Odawara at Shinagawa Station, or visit JR service at Haneda.
Cost: 300 Yen for Keikyu + 3630 Yen for JR

 

[2] For those arriving on Dec 1st Sunday at Narita Airport (3 Terminals with 2 Stations)

Go to JR (Japan Railway). Buy a ticket to Odawara with express fairs for Narita Express and Shinkansen.
From Odawara, you can also take a taxi (8000 yen) to the hotel if you are in a hurry or late. The examples below are quantized by the schedule of Hotel Shuttle Bus to the hotel from Odawara Station West Exit (See the map below). You need to mail/call the hotel to reserve your seat (e-mail:

Transfers from Narita Express to the Shinkansen at Shinagawa Station.
Cost: 7100 Yen for JR (+ 8000 Yen if you take taxi from Odawara).

There is also public bus service (1310 Yen) to the hotel from Odawara Station East Exit (Bus stop No. 5, dest. Hakone-en). You will Google it from Odawara Station to Hakone-en.

[2.5] After 2.4, no shuttle bus is available. So, come to Odawara and take Taxi.

[3] For those arriving on Nov 30th Saturday or before and staying in Tokyo

3.1 Train: Go to Shinagawa Station, and follow 2.*.

3.2 Bus: Take direct bus to the hotel from Shinagawa or Ikebukuro. Reservation necessary. Cost 2100 Yen.  Reservation would open after Nov. 1st at Japan Bus Online Site.

3.3 If you plan to have some fun before the symposium, stay in Shinjuku, Take Odakyu Line to Odawara, Consider to use Hakone Free Pass for transportation.

 

 

[4] For those staying around Hakone Area on Saturday night

4.1 Stay in Odawara. Visit Odawara Castle in the morning and follow 2.*.

4.2 Note that “Owakudani” is currently closed. All the ropeways are in operation, but Hakone Tozan Railway is not operational. https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5203.html
